When my friend suggested the Chinese lights at the zoo, I expected a small display of lights the kind zoos often have around Christmas time. We were both surprised at the extravagant exhibit.
Even the entrance gate had become a celebration of wonder. As we walked into the park, we found a temple of plates, lotus flowers, and roses. We headed for the acrobat show that was in a square along with a miniature Temple of Heaven, which I’d visited in Beijing.
We didn’t want to leave.
During the day, you can take a closer look at the mechanics of the lights. You can admire how the displays were painstakingly put together. At night the scene comes alive. For a night owl such as myself, it’s a perfect treat!

Gina Campanello, my protagonist fromThai Twist, would love such a display. The images would be compatible with some of the temples she visited in Thailand!
